Business Mechanic Drag Racing

Team Crew Chief, Dale Rankmore has been Drag Racing since March 2007; she has always been interested in car racing since she was young. As a youngster, her family went to Oran Park & Amaroo Park in Sydney to watch the great Australian touring car drivers of Peter Brock, Alan Moffat and Colin Bond to name a few. In her late teens she went to her first Drag racing meeting at Castlereagh Drag Strip in Sydney to watch Joe Borg race his Modified Holden Rail, which was crewed by Mick Borg, his brother. It was Mick that reintroduced Dale to drag racing 3 years ago in 2006, when she was invited to crew for him racing his Modified Dragster. Since then she hasn’t looked back!!!

In March 2007, she attended the Girls’ Torque Drag racing workshop at Heathcote near Bendigo in VIC. This was run by the Australian Women’s Motorsport Network Inc. and it was a great introduction to Drag Racing, she was taught by 4 of the stars of Drag Racing in Australia – Debbie Reed, Katherine Stevens, Katherine Schicter, & Evelyne Scholtz.

From there she has gone on to race in Street Fighter class in Sydney at WSID (Western Sydney International Dragway) in her Business Mechanic V6 Holden Storm ute. This is a class for cars that complete the ¼ mile in slower than 13sec. Currently her best time is 15.55sec and her top speed is 142km/h. She has had some great results in Sydney – they are listed below:

  • Winner Street Fighter Bracket March 2008
  • Winner Street Fighter Bracket July 2008
  • Runner up Street Fighter Bracket April 2009
  • Runner up Street Fighter Bracket November 2009

She has also raced in the Street Series at Willowbank Raceway and has raced at Gunnedah Airport with the Tamworth Drag Racing Association over the 1/8th mile.

She has plans to go further in drag racing in the future and would like to within the next 10 years have a Pro Stock car running on the drag strip for the Business Mechanic Drag Racing Team. Some Drag Racing Websites:
